Miley Cyrus reveals that her new album cost only $50k to make

Miley Cyrus says her surprise new record was a relatively low-budget affair.

The singer unleashed the 23-track effort 'Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz' online after hosting the MTV VMAs on Sunday (August 30).

Speaking to the New York Times about how the album was made, Cyrus said that her usual label RCA had very little involvement.

She revealed that it cost around $50,00 (£32,000) to make and added that the record isn't included in her contract with RCA.

Cyrus stated: "[RCA] had never heard the record until it was done."

In contrast, the US star's last full album 'Bangerz' cost a "a couple million".

The label issued a statement of support for the singer, with the company saying:

"Miley Cyrus continues to be a groundbreaking artist. She has a strong point of view regarding her art and expressed her desire to share this body of work with her fans directly.

"RCA Records is pleased to support Miley’s unique musical vision."
