Miley Cyrus on her free album: 'It wasn't a rebellion - it was a gift'

Songstress Miley Cyrus recently surprised fans by releasing a new album for free and she has now opened up about the edgy offering, which is titled 'Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz'.

Speaking to the New York Times, the superstar explained that it won't count as part of her commitment to label RCA and even confessed that her label didn't hear the record until it was finished and ready to go:

"This music was not meant to be a rebellion. It was meant to be a gift. They had never heard the record until it was done."

The 'We Can't Stop' sensation went onto talk about her musical direction and admitted that she will never revert to mainstream sounds because she's enjoying this new creative freedom too much:

"I don't think I'll grow that way. It seems like it would be backwards. [My team] said they'd never seen someone at my level, especially a woman, have this much freedom. I literally can do whatever I want. It's insane. I can just do what I want to do, and make the music I want to make."
