Miley Cyrus to appear in new Woody Allen TV series

Miley Cyrus has been cast in a Woody Allen TV series.

The former Disney will star in a currently entitled show on Amazon Prime that is set in the 1960s.

Shooting is expected to begin on the six-part series in March.

Cyrus confirmed the news on Instagram with a painting of Allen, adding:

"F*ck yeah! Stoked to be in Woody Allens first series!!!!!

"I had claimed 2016 to be my year of "chillin the f*ck out" but next to my bed for a few years now has been this portrait of W.A. & I was looking into his eyes when I got the call to be apart of the cast and work alongside the bad a$$ Elaine May & da dude himself! 1960zzzz here I cummmmm [sic]."

Vice President of Amazon Studios Roy Price previously commented on the series:

"Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all-time, and it's an honour to be working with him on his first television series."

Allen added: "I don't know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I'm not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this."

It is also reported that Elaine May will feature in the series, which will be Allen's first on TV.
