Police investigate Miley Cyrus 'swatting' prank

Police have launched an investigation into a prank played on Miley Cyrus which saw armed police turn up at her home.

Los Angeles police received a call on Wednesday (August 1) claiming that there was a possible kidnap and shooting situation at Cyrus's house in Hollywood.

Heavily armed police arrived at the house as the 'swatting' prank ensued, but nobody was inside at the time.

Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway into the incident and that they are tracking the caller.

It is said that making a prank call to emergency services in Los Angeles could come with a jail sentence of up to a year.

As previously reported, Miley Cyrus recently admitted that she spent a night with friends "stalking" Zayn Malik from One Direction.
