Singer and actress Miley Cyrus has confessed that it took her six years to summon the courage to chop off her famously long hair.

The star shocked the world earlier this year when she debuted a cute edgy pixie cut, but explained to News.com.au that it took a long time to go through with the huge change although she would never want really long locks ever again:

"I've wanted to cut my hair forever, since probably like six years ago we did an episode where they made my hair look like Twiggy. Ever since I saw that I wanted to do it, but it was just getting the guts to finally take a razor and know that your hair does not grow back overnight. It's not the cutting it that scares you, it's the growing it out."

"It's so worth it, I could never see myself with long, long hair again, it just seems like so much maintenance. This is so easy, so nice."

Meanwhile, Cyrus took her official Twitter page earlier today (November 21) and told her followers that her birthday is fast approaching:

"2 days till my birrrrfdayyyyy! if I don't get atleast one big booty hoe my friends are officially not my friends anymore."
