Miley Cyrus receives birthday pig

Miley Cyrus has received a pet pig in celebration of her 20th birthday today (November 23).

Animal rights organisation PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) have sponsored Nora the pig on behalf of Cyrus to thank her for her unwavering commitment to their cause.

PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said: ''PETA knew that sponsoring a rescued pig was the perfect birthday present for a young woman who spends so much time encouraging others to help animals. From promoting animal adoption to speaking up for cows who suffer on dairy farms, Miley never stops letting her millions of fans know what they can do to make the world a kinder place.''

Cyrus took to her Twitter page today to thank everyone for their birthday wishes.

She gushed: "So much BIRFFFDAY love! ❤❤❤ i wish everyday was like this :) (sic)."

And the star's campaigning carried on regardless of her birthday festivities - taking to the social networking site to promote two causes close to her heart: "Thank you to all my fans who donated to @starkeyhearing @spotrescuedogs for my birthday :) y'all topped it again best bday present by far! (sic)."

The US songstress was clearly excited about celebrating her birthday earlier this week, writing: "2 days till my birrrrfdayyyyy! if I don't get atleast one big booty hoe my friends are officially not my friends anymore (sic)."
