Miley Cyrus: 'Sex sells but you shouldn't have to take your clothes off for fame'

Former Disney starlet Miley Cyrus has opened up about the state of the entertainment industry and slammed the way people expect stars to just get naked and show skin to assert their authority.

Speaking to the UK's ELLE magazine, on which she also graces the cover of the June edition, the 'Party In The USA' beauty explained that she feels as though she should be able to keep her clothes on and progress in her career at the same time:

"A star is someone who doesn't have to take her clothes off to be sexy because you naturally have star power. Sex does sell, but you have to find a way that's not just showing your tits. I don't want to be a glorified model. They just walk on stage and it's all about their clothes - or lack of clothes."

Referring to her controversial Vanity Fair cover shoot, which she shot with Annie Leibovitz when she was just 15-years-old and showed her topless covered only by a white sheet, Cyrus added that it was taken out of context and oversexualised:

"You can't even look at something that's just beautiful without immediately going to sex. That's sad."
