Miley Cyrus thanks fans and "haters" for contributing to VEVO record

Miley Cyrus has thanked both her own fans and her enemies for helping her clinch a new VEVO record.

As previously reported, the singer's new video 'We Can't Stop' recently notched up the most amount of views a clip has ever had on the website and YouTube in its first 24 hours online.

Her hit count of 10.7m beat Justin Bieber's previous record, which was held by the video 'Beauty and a Beat'.

Speaking on Good Morning America, Cyrus thanked her army of fans for helping with the accolade - and also her "haters" too, who may have clicked on the video to show their dislike. She said:

"The Smilers are the ones that are getting ['We Can't Stop'] to be 33m views. My whole thing is that haters are going to hate, but haters are also going to click on your YouTube video to watch it. I don't really care - you helped me break the record. You were watching just to hate on me, and now I hold a record - so, I win."

Cyrus also performed on Good Morning America as she builds up to the release of her new album, which is expected to land later this year.
