Petition to make Miley Cyrus track US national anthem gaining votes

A petition launched by fans to make a Miley Cyrus song the US national anthem is attracting votes.

An official campaign was launched at the start of July to encourage the US government to replace 'Star-Spangled Banner' with Cyrus' 'Party in the USA' as the country's national anthem.

However, it is currently some way short of the target vote count of 100,000, which is needed to be hit by August 1.

Some 320 fans have lodged signatures on the video so far but as the clock ticks away, it remains to be seen whether or not the unusual petition will be considered by the government.

The petition blurb meanwhile reads: "Obama please make Miley Cyrus' 'Party in the USA' our national anthem. It is what is best for this country."
