Miley Cyrus has admitted that she is ready to "retire" her tongue.

The singer has undergone a dramatic image change over the past year ahead of the release of her new album 'Bangerz'.

It has seen Cyrus ditch her Hannah Montana innocence in favour of raunchy sensationalism - and sticking out her tongue appears to be a big part of it.

It has attracted some criticism and speaking to Le Grand Journal, the 'Wrecking Ball' star admitted that it could be time to give it a rest. She said:

"It's the new Miley tongue. I think people always take pictures of themselves and me doing it is just being myself so it's kind of like my style now...[But] that's getting a little old. I'm going to have to retire it!"

Cyrus added: "For as long as it is, you would think that I could touch my nose. I mean I've tried it, I can't, I'm so close. I wish I had more control of it, I can't do any tricks, no four leaf clover, nothing!"
