Miley Cyrus on VMAs performance: 'I don't understand why people were surprised'

'Wrecking Ball' beauty Miley Cyrus has spoken out in defense of her recent live collaboration with Robin Thicke at the 2013 MTV VMAs.

She appeared on Alan Carr's 'Chatty Man' show this week and addressed the risqué set, admitting that she doesn't get why the world was so shocked by her on-stage antics: "I didn't really think anything about it until the next morning when the world was going crazy about it, because when I came off the stage I didn't really think anything of it."

"It wasn't really about the competition or what other people think, it was really more about expressing yourself as much as you can, and really celebrating your video. I thought it was dope when Gaga came out [for her performance], it was such a tribute to her video. And that's what ours was really too, so I didn't really get why people were so surprised."

Cyrus added: "People keep clicking it, so people are going to keep writing about it, talking about it, because it keeps bringing hits to their site, it really has nothing to do with me and what I did, people just like to rile each other up, it's crazy."

Meanwhile, she has promised to unveil the director's cut of her new music video if the hits reach 150 million. While this sounds like an impossible figure, she broke VEVO's 24-hour record with the cut after earning 19.3 million views in just one day.
