Miley Cyrus bags first ever US No.1 single

Miley Cyrus is celebrating after hitting No.1 on the US singles chart for the first time.

The singer recently released the track 'Wrecking Ball' as the second single from her forthcoming album 'Bangerz'.

It has now topped the Billboard Hot 100, giving her the first No.1 single of her career on the chart. 'Party in the USA' and 'We Can't Stop' have previously reached No.2.

The video for 'Wrecking Ball' meanwhile, which features Cyrus naked, has helped the song's chart performance as the Hot 100 counts online streams.

The promo clip recently broke the record for the quickest video to reach 100m on VEVO after taking only six days to reach the milestone.

Tweeting last night (September 18), Cyrus said: "#1 on Billboard. #1 on iTunes. #1 on Spotify. #1 on Streaming. #1 on Digital songs. #1 most added to pop radio. #1 on VEVO."
