Miley Cyrus: 'Music is really stale right now'

'Wrecking Ball' superstar Miley Cyrus has confessed that she's glad her MTV VMAs performance provoked such a strong reaction because she feels as though music needs an injection of excitement at the moment.

During an interview with Fashion magazine, the beauty explained that the industry and what it's producing right now feels "stale" so she was glad to have shaken things up a little with her provocative and risqué rendition of 'We Can't Stop' and 'Blurred Lines':

"I'm proud of that performance. I feel like music is really stale right now. I could have guessed what a lot of artists would have done that night."

She even went as far to admit that her set would have been even more raunchy if MTV hadn't edited it down:

"I was trying to slap Robin's ass but no-one saw it! Believe me! MTV edited so much. They cut almost everything I did. The reaction to what I did has been insane. I think it was a breath of fresh air! For the people that don't get it, you weren't meant to."
