Miley Cyrus: 'I don't plan to offend people, it just happens'

'Wrecking Ball' beauty Miley Cyrus deflected recent criticism during her new interview with Matt Lauer on 'The Today Show' and explained that she feels as though she is just a little misunderstood.

Speaking to the host earlier this morning (October 7), the former Disney starlet admitted that she never wants to offend people, but she is often taken the wrong way and her behaviour misinterpreted.

Cyrus told Lauer: "I don't ever really plan to offend people, but sometimes it just happens because I think people, you know, they're not open to what they don't understand."

Lauer then asked her if transitioning from a child star to adult recording artist has been tough and she confessed that nothing about the past year has been hard career-wise: "No, because this is just who I am. I think it's only hard if you're trying to be something you're not. Being who you are is really easy if you're really true to that."
