Miley Cyrus on Terry Richardson: 'People didn't expect us to work together'

Pop superstar Miley Cyrus has opened up about her relationship with famed photographer Terry Richardson, who recently posted a series of risqué pictures of her on his official website.

The pair struck up a friendship and he directed her music video for 'Wrecking Ball', which is a bold visual offering. Speaking about their dynamic and getting him on board for the project, Cyrus explained:

"Well, it couldn’t be the same kind of shock as ‘Can’t Stop’ it had to be like, “Woah I didn’t expect Terry Richardson and I didn’t expect all this.” It has to be the full package because you can talk about the sexuality all you want but you also have to reference back that it’s Terry. You have to respect the fact that it’s art, you have to respect the fact that when you watch the video it makes you feel something and gets you choked up at some points."

Referring to her vision for the cut, Cyrus explained that she wanted it to be like Sinead O'Connor's 'Nothing Compares 2U' music video and capturing the raw emotion was the hardest part:

"I said a lot of people tried to recreate it, a lot of people have tried to get that emotion in but there’s something about the way he did it."
