Morrissey invites Ireland to go one further by boosting animal rights

Morrissey has congratulated Ireland for voting in support of same-sex marriage.

However, he feels the country should take things one further by "abolishing" practises such as factory farming.

The Emerald Isle held a historic referendum on Saturday to ask the public if the country's constitution should be changed to allow same-sex marriages.

62% voted in favour of the motion, with Morrissey posting on fansite True To You:

"The people, once again, teach the church. The people, once again, teach the politicians."

The noted animal rights activist then added: "Now, Ireland, please abolish fur farms and factory-farming and transportation of live animals, and welcome yourself completely into the 21st century."
