Muse tease 'heavy' new album

'Uprising' hitmakers Muse have teased that their forthcoming new studio album will be 'heavier' and more rock orientated than previous offerings.

The rocker was asked by a fan about the musical direction of the next record in a tweet that read: "@MattBellamy So, are you sticking to your "going back to guitar/drums/bass" or was that just Matt being a tease?"

Upon seeing the question, Bellamy publicly replied and admitted: "Yes. It's gonna get heavy." He then added that it's unlikely the record will be released before this time next year, telling his online following: "Yes, going well. We hope to have it ready for next summer."

Earlier this spring, the band's drummer Dom Howard told KROQ that they were due to start writing for the new album in May: "We're going to start this year...[Coachella] is our last two gigs, then we're completely done for touring this album. We're going to go back in May and start working on some new stuff, so I think we'll start making it this year."
