Music Business School partners with London School of Sound

-       Schools combine operations to add value to existing courses

-       New standalone courses announced covering social media marketing, publishing and sync, live business

-       Students can now study individual units from MBS’s MMBE Diploma

-       Top line-up of industry experts to speak

Music Business School has entered into partnership with the London School of Sound (LSS). The deal sees the two schools amalgamate back-office and marketing functions and create a variety of new courses.

Already operating out of the LSS campus in Clapham Common, MBS will merge its London operations with the sound engineering school in a value-added partnership, which will see students from both schools interact and collaborate. In addition, the organisations will jointly offer three six week courses starting in September, respectively covering social media marketing, publishing/sync and the live business.

Further to the partnership, MBS is now an approved NCFE (Northern Council for Further Education) centre, able to deliver the 16 week Managing a Music Business Enterprise (MMBE) Diploma. In a move to offer greater flexibility, MBS will also enable students to study individual units from the MMBE Diploma such as those on management deals and publishing, with completed units counting towards a full Diploma should they wish to finish them all.

Amongst a line-up of industry professionals contributing to MBS courses in 2014 are MMF’s Chief Executive Jon Webster, Radio 1 producer James Bursey (Zane Lowe), digital media and music lawyer and Sheridans partner Tahir Basheer, PPL’s Director of Performer Affairs Keith Harris, Henley Business School’s MBA for Music & Creative Industries Programme Director Helen Gammons, owner of Absolute Marketing and Distribution Henry Semmence and Eric Longley, Director of Taxation at Prager and Fenton.

MBS Director and head tutor Steve Melhuish said: “This partnership is all about two dynamic educators joining together to improve to what they’re offering in their separate courses. LSS has been our landlord for a while, so it seems only natural that we should cosy up. Together, we’re offering a comprehensive and flexible approach to training the next generation of successful artists and music executives.”

Federico Bersano Begey, course director at LSS added: “I had been looking at Steve Melhuish’s Music Business School for a few years, and I always thought their approach to real-world education was far superior to what I could see from other universities and colleges. Finally we can make these courses available to a wider audience and increase their value even further with the services and facilities that LSS already offers to the students of its Music Production Certificates.”
