Stornoway Flying High With Cooking Vinyl

  -  Agreed worldwide artist services deal

  -  New album, Bonxie, released 13 April 2015

5 March 2015, London:- Cooking Vinyl has signed Oxford indie-folk stars Stornoway in a worldwide artist services deal for their third album, Bonxie. The deal also covers future material from the band.

Due for release on 13th April, the album was funded via PledgeMusic, hitting an incredible 222% of its target in just four days. Bonxie is named after a Hebridean seabird native to the Stornoway area and themed around birds from its artwork to the 20 different birdsongs that feature on its tracks, with front man Brian Briggs fittingly holding a PhD in Ornithology.

Drawing its inspiration from the great outdoors, with a more epic sound than previous material, Bonxie also sees Stornoway enlist a producer for the first time in Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Pixies). Other collaborators include Craig Potter (Elbow) on mixing duties.

Out now, opening single ‘The Road You Didn’t Take’ is already generating attention, winning the BBC 6 Music Rebel Playlist after premiering on Steve Lamacq’s show.

After revealing the album at a sold out show at Oxford’s Sheldonian Theatre, the only amplified band to have ever played this historic venue, and headlining the Folk Stage at the BBC 6 Music Festival, Stornoway will embark on a full UK tour in April. (Tour dates listed below)

Marcus Knight, product manager at Cooking Vinyl said: “It’s great to be working with such a talented group of musicians. The success Stornoway have had with the funding campaign for the album just goes to show how much people love this band, and I’m sure when they hear it they’ll be blown away.”

Stornoway’s manager Jon Chapman commented: "Cooking Vinyl are a positive, ambitious and thoroughly modern record company in every sense. They are an intelligent and passionate team with an unparalleled digital marketing strategy, so the band and I are thrilled to be working with them."

Stornoway’s previous two albums both made the Top 5 of the UK Indie Charts.
