Nicki Minaj: 'I stand for girls wanting to be sexy, but also having a strong sense of themselves'

Nicki Minaj says she stands for women who want to showcase their bodies as well as using their head.

The rapper has come under fire in recent times for appearing to flaunt her assets too readily in front of the camera.

However, she told Rolling Stone that racy clips like her 'Anaconda' video are a source of empowerment for ladies.

Minaj said: "I'm a grown-ass f***ing woman! I stand for girls wanting to be sexy and dance, but also having a strong sense of themselves.

"If you got a big ol’ butt? Shake it! Who cares? That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be graduating from college."

The rapper added in the same interview that she "thought she was going to die" during an abortion when she was a teenager.
