Nicki Minaj has revealed her desire to branch out into more serious acting.

The rapper has flirted with film in the likes of The Other Woman and upcoming movie Barbershop 3.

However, the 'Super Bass' star told Billboard that she would like to emulate Meryl Streep and do more conventional acting.

Minaj said: "I want to do something very serious.

"Meryl Streep is one of my favourite artists of all time. She blows me away in just about everything she does. I love how she can go from The Devil Wears Prada to The Iron Lady - she's so incredible in that.

"My dream would be to have that type of acting career, where I can do both things believably."

Minaj meanwhile released her latest album 'The Pinkprint' in December last year.

It was recently nominated for the Best Rap Album prize at next year's Grammy Awards.
