Nicki Minaj on 'American Idol': 'It's not a singing competition'

Rap superstar Nicki Minaj has opened up about the judging process of 'American Idol', for which she is one of the new panelists.

She took to her official Twitter page last night (February 13) and told her 15.7 million followers that although it's a competition that is based around vocal ability, they are looking for more than just a solid and talented singer as it's about finding the whole package:

"No, this is NOT a "singing competition". If that were the case, we'd judge w/blindfolds on. Presence, Look, Relatability, Authentic, etc."

Following her tweets about 'American Idol', she then changed the subject wrote: "The commercial w/the white dudes spkng w/Jamaican accents>>>>>>>> that makes me scream with joy."

Back in January, the 'Starships' hitmaker explained that she would rather be honest to the show's hopefuls than 'set them up for failure': "If we sit up here and tell them everything that they’re doing is great then we’re setting them up for failure. This is not America’s Next Mom/Daughter Sweet Moment. If I really love someone I tell them the harsh truth. So, I do the same thing when I don’t like someone. I never want to take someone’s dream away. I just want to be honest.”
