Rap superstar Nicki Minaj has admitted that the speculation about her recording a duet with Miley Cyrus is not true, but they did come close to working together at one point. 

During a new interview with E! News, the 'Starships' hitmaker confessed that a song was being talked about but the project never materialised:

"I didn't... I didn't make any music with Miley. There was a song that was a possibility but it didn't work out."

Minaj also spoke briefly about her recent decision to leave 'American Idol', adding: "My heart is in music. I had to step back and go and have different experiences so I could write my third album."

Earlier this month, the hitmaker celebrated a social networking milestone by reaching an impressive 17,000,000 followers on Twitter.
