Nicola Roberts has admitted that being called the "ugly one" from Girls Aloud led her to depression and encouraged her desire drink.

The flame-haired singer has previously spoken about being bullied for her ginger hair, but she told the Daily Star that torment over her looks in the early days of Girls Aloud became too much. She said:

"Being singled out as 'The Ugly One' led to depression. It's funny I was too young for so many things but you thought I'd cope with being told I'm ugly over and over."

She added that as a teenager she would ask her driver to buy her alcohol to help deal with the pressures. She said:

"I would beg my driver to buy me vodka when I was still under age."
