Former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger has split from British racing driver Lewis Hamilton. 

The pair began dating back in 2007, and although they separated briefly in 2010 to focus on their careers while the 'Poison' hitmaker was marketing herself as a solo singer, they have been close ever since but have now called time on their relationship for good. 

Hamilton opened up about the split and told PA:

"It's never easy going through tough times. It's these kind of times that are sent to try you, and it's about how you pull through them. I've my family who are helping, so I feel pretty good."

"I've many more days coming up with my family over Christmas and all that, so I'm really looking forward to it. I'm just trying to look forward now, and we've three good races coming up, so I'm just trying to keep my mind focused on business."

Scherzinger is yet to speak publicly about the situation, but a message posted on her official Twitter account last night (October 27) seems to reveal her annoyance at both media speculation and the kinds of rumours that will now follow her as a single woman:

"Wow, now anyone that happens to be in the same restaurant is linked to me."
