Nicole Scherzinger lands a midweek No.1 with 'Boomerang'

The new single from former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, 'Boomerang', has landed at No.1 on today's (March 13) midweek chart update.

If she manages to hold on to the top spot until Sunday (March 17) when the positions are confirmed, this will be her second solo No.1 single after the success of 'Don't Hold Your Breath' last year.

The Official Charts Company explained that there are only 1,300 copies separating Scherzinger from Justin Timberlake's 'Mirrors', which is currently at No.2 so it will be a very close race.

Elsewhere in the UK Top 40, One Direction's charity single 'One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)' is a non-mover at 6, Emeli Sande's 'Clown' has climbed 6 places to No.11, and Taylor Swift's 'I Knew You Were Trouble' has dropped 5 spots to No.15.

Nelly has a new entry at No.23 with 'Hey Porsche', Adele's 'Skyfall' is currently at 27, and Psy's 'Gangnam Style' is clinging on at No.39 after 30 weeks on the chart.
