Noel Gallagher asked to produce Libertines album: 'Unfortunately I'm on tour'

Noel Gallagher has reluctantly turned down the chance to produce the next Libertines album.

The indie rockers are set to start to work on the follow-up to their 2004 record 'The Libertines' soon.

Speaking to NME, former Oasis man said that he had been asked to oversee the making of the studio effort.

However, the musician will be on tour at the time of recording. Gallagher said:

"We've exchanged a few emails but unfortunately they want to do it in Thailand.

"With the best will in the world, I'm on tour and I can't do it. I would genuinely love to be involved but they're going to do it in Thailand and I can't be in Thailand."

The Libertines' Pete Doherty has been attending a rehab programme in Thailand recently in an effort to stay off drugs.
