Noel Gallagher set for UK No.1 album

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are on course for a UK No.1 album this weekend.

The former Oasis man and his band released their second record 'Chasing Yesterday' this week and today (March 4) the Official Charts Company confirmed that it is No.1.

If the group stay put on the chart come Sunday (March 8), they will have bagged their second UK No.1 album.

At second place on the midweek update meanwhile is Ed Sheeran's 'x', whilst Sam Smith's 'In The Lonely Hour' follows at No.3.

George Ezra's 'Wanted on Voyage' is in at No.4 and Royal Blood's self-titled debut record is up two places to No.5.

US star Kelly Clarkson is a new entry at No.6 with her effort 'Piece By Piece'.

Prog-rocker Steven Wilson meanwhile is the third highest new entry this week with 'Hand.Cannot.Erase'.

His album is sitting at a career-best No.7.
