Noel Gallagher tops UK chart with fastest-selling album of 2015

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have debuted at No. 1 on the UK albums chart with ‘Chasing Yesterday’.

‘Chasing Yesterday’ is the second album from Noel Gallagher’s post-Oasis outfit and follows up their 2011 self-titled debut.

Having accrued a combined sales total of 89,000 this week, ‘Chasing Yesterday’ is the fastest-selling album of 2015 so far.

Sam Smith’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’, last week’s No. 1 album, is now down to No. 2.

The rest of this week’s top five is completed by a further three male acts: Ed Sheeran down one to No. 3 with ‘X’, ‘Wanted On Voyage’ by George Ezra is a non-mover at No. 4, and the eponymous ‘Royal Blood’ is down two to No. 5.

The second highest new entry of the week is Kelly Clarkson with her seventh studio album ‘Piece By Piece’.

Other new entries to this week’s chart come from The Overtones at No. 8 with ‘Sweet Soul Music’, ‘Brave’ by The Shires at No. 10, Steve Wilson’s ‘Hand.Cannot.Erase’ at No. 13, and ‘Carole King’s A Beautiful Collection’ at No. 32.
