Professor Penguin announce new single 'Pirate' and details of their debut album

Professor Penguin have announced the second single from their highly anticipated debut album will be the track ‘Pirate’, released on 19th March 2012.

The new track follows on from Professor Penguin’s debut single ‘Pilot’, which won widespread support at radio from Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio One, Lauren Laverne, Radcliffe & Maconie, Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson on BBC 6Music, Gary Crowley on BBC London and John Kennedy’s XFM show where the track was playlisted as the “Xposure Big One”.

The creation of Jonny Abraham, Professor Penguin are now an exciting collective of nine talented musicians who are already enjoying success on the live circuit, starting 2012 with a sold-out residency at London’s Ronnie Scott’s.

The band have even picked up Brian Eno as a fan, who described their last single ‘Pilot’ as “a beautiful piece” and took the track in to air on BBC 6Music during an appearance on Radcliffe & Maconie’s show.

Professor Penguin’s new release ‘Pirate’ is only likely to win them even more fans, with the majestic beauty and glorious harmonies on the track being a sign of things to come from the forthcoming album, set to be released on the band’s own imprint Gentoo Recordings this spring.

‘Pirate’ is released on March 19th through www.professorpenguin.co.uk. Professor Penguin’s highly anticipated debut album ‘Planes’ is released on April 9th through Gentoo Recordings.
