Olly Murs says he was "flattered" to have been asked to host the X Factor.

It was confirmed recently that the singer and his former Xtra Factor colleague Caroline Flack will host the next series of the UK TV show.

Speaking in a new interview with the Telegraph, Murs said that he was taken aback by the job offer.

He revealed: "I was flattered to be asked. I grew up on the show, so it’s like coming home.

"Caroline and I have great chemistry: we bounce off each other, she can be the serious one and I’m the joker."

Murs meanwhile commented on speculation that he got one over on outgoing host Dermot O'Leary, who is friends with the singer.

The Brit added: "It annoyed me, it was really nothing like that. Dermot’s one of my best showbiz mates, but we’ve had a great chat about it."
