Olly Murs jokes he's as famous as The Queen

Olly Murs has jokingly claimed that he might be as well-known as The Queen in the UK.

The 27-year-old, whose fans have set up several Facebook pages petitioning for him to appear at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert, admitted he may not be as recognisable internationally as the 85-year old monarch.

But when asked if he was as famous in his own country, he cheekily replied: ''Maybe in the UK, but the queen is known across the world and I definitely don't think I have got to that status.

''I met the royals recently, but I haven't been invited to Buckingham Palace ... yet!''

However, the ‘Dance With Me Tonight’ singer, who yesterday revealed he may have to choose between his pop career and his Xtra Factor presenting role, said he can’t compete with another big British icon.

''I don't think I'm as nice or as tasty as a fry-up! I'm sure if people had the option of buying a full English or me, I think they'd prefer the big breakfast. I know I would anyway!''
