Olly Murs claims he’s proved doubters wrong with T In The Park slot
Olly Murs has claimed that he’s proved his doubters wrong following last night’s performance at T In The Park.
The 28-year-old, who was appearing at the Kinross-shire festival for the first time, told The Scottish Sun that he hopes his hits-heavy set will have won over some of those who may have dismissed him because of his talent show background:
“If anyone did look down on me because of The X Factor, I think I proved them wrong. I surprised people with my nine-piece band. To be asked to come and do this sort of thing as someone who does make pop music is great.
“There’s boybands here like McFly and The Wanted but of course it’s a festival so you want to see bands like The Kaiser Chiefs. I want to see The Kaiser Chiefs and Florence And The Machine myself but it’s great to have variety."
The ‘Heart Skips A Beat’ star, who performed covers of Madness’ 'It Must Be Love' and Aloe Blacc’s 'I Need A Dollar,' also admitted that he was ditching his usual healthy living regime to celebrate his on-stage success:
“It’s been a great day out. I’ve never been here before, I was a T In The Park virgin. But I’m glad I’m here today as I’ll be off before it rains.
“I went for five pints of Tennent’s. I hadn’t drunk for a long time, so that was enough for me on my first night back on it.”
