Olly Murs thanks US One Direction fans for their support

Olly Murs has thanked  One Direction's US fans for their response during his recent support slot on the boyband’s Stateside tour.

The X-Factor runner-up, who had previously tweeted about the positive reaction he received from Canadian crowds, told MTV News he was astonished at how quickly American audiences took to him:

"It's brilliant. It wasn't hard. One Direction's fans, they literally found out I was supporting them, they went online, found out who I was, what songs I've done, my videos and then I walked out [at the] first gig in Detroit [and] everyone's just crazy.

"And I was like, 'This is insane. They don't even know who I am. How could they be doing this?'

"As the weeks went on, it just got bigger and stronger. That's obviously all thanks to the boys for having me on the tour. And, of course, the One Direction fans in America for backing me.”

The 28-year-old, who will release ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’ in the States in September, admitted he hopes to continue winning over One Direction’s fanbase:

"You know, I'm hoping to convert more Directioners in my corner. And if I can have One Direction fans quoting me as well, that would be amazing. They seem to really like what I was doing. So yeah, it's positive."
