Olly Murs is one of the first acts to be announced for the 2013 BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend.

The annual event is taking place this year in Derry, Northern Ireland as it celebrates being the UK City of Culture 2013.

Olly Murs and Two Door Cinema Club are the first two names to be confirmed for the event, which is taking place over three days between May 24-26.

Tweeting about the announcement, Murs said: "Off to sleep...have a lil think about getting me wellies out & having a right good old jolly up in Derry for #R1BigWeekend #happydays."

Last year's Big Weekend took place in Hackney, London and saw the likes of Rihanna and Jay-Z feature on a star-studded bill.
