Olly Murs has admitted his joy at landing a nomination for this year's Ivor Novello awards.

As previously reported, the singer was shortlisted in the PRS For Music Most Performed Track category for his song 'Dance With Me Tonight'.

Murs co-wrote the single with Claude Kelly and Steve Robson and he told the Daily Star that it is an honour to be selected by the songwriting ceremony. The former X Factor contestant said:

"I'm thrilled to be nominated for an Ivor Novello award."

The 'Right Place Right Time' man continued: "To be recognised as a songwriter by something so prestigious as the Ivors really means a lot to me."

Murs will go head-to-head with Emeli Sandé and Coldplay for the gong.

This year's Ivor Novello awards are due to take place in London on May 16.
