Olly Murs' Xtra Factor exit confirmed

Olly Murs stint as a presenter on the Xtra Factor is officially over.

The 'Right Place Right Time' star had previously suggested that he would step down from the X Factor to focus on his music career.

It was confirmed today (May 29) that comedian Matt Richardson would be taking over from Murs on the show, with Caroline Flack resuming her role.

Speaking about the move, Flack said: "I'm really excited to be hosting Xtra Factor for the third year! Of course I'm going to miss Olly every day, but I am very proud that his music is doing so well all around the world."

Murs meanwhile hinted on Twitter that he would like to make a guest appearance on the Xtra Factor in the future. He said:

"Yessss hugely gutted I'm not doing @XtraFactor this year.. Me & caz had such a wicked time together.. Just wanna focus on Music this year!! I'll be back on the show for sure to tease & annoy @carolineflack1 but very happy for Mr @MattRichardson3 seems a great guy & very funny!!"

Murs joined the show in 2011 and forged a successful partnership with Caroline Flack.
