Olly Murs: "I want to headline a stadium tour like One Direction"

British singer Olly Murs hopes to follow One Direction's lead and headline a stadium tour one day.

The British singer and former X Factor star is in awe of the success the chart-topping boyband have achieved.

The group - comprising Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan - recently announced a stadium tour, and Murs hopes to follow suit one day.

He gushed: "I hope so - I would love to do a stadium tour. You have to be a certain artist to do it. Robbie [Williams] has had the most amazing career over the past 20 years, so he has every right to do stadiums. One Direction - even though it's been a short career - the success of the guys and how big they are, it's going to be massive.

He added: "I don't think I'm quite ready for it yet, but it's all about progression, and like every artist, I'll just dream and pray I'll get the opportunity."

The star's newest single 'Dear Darlin'' has jumped into the iTunes Top 10. The song is a departure from his signature upbeat tracks, and Murs is happy with how well received it has been.

Talking to Digital Spy he said: "In my eyes I think people are a bit shocked by the song. I'm not because I've always wanted to do a song like that. I think I'm always trying to do something people wouldn't expect. I've tried to change it around and I think 'Dear Darlin'' has done that."

Murs also weighed in on the new X Factor UK line-up. Sharon Osbourne has replaced Tulisa on the judging panel and the star thinks the changes will be good for the show.

He explained: "To be honest with you, I'm going to miss Tulisa. I like T - she is a great girl and I feel the media have been attacking her recently. I really liked her on the show and personally, behind closed doors, I got on with her really well. I think she did a really good job on the show and it's sad to see her leave. Obviously Sharon was on the show years ago, so it's nice to welcome an old face back. People will be able to relate to her and you know what you're going to get. She's fiesty, outgoing and she says what she says and doesn't care what people think. She'll be really great for the show."
