Olly Murs hits out at BRITs judging panel: 'It's ridiculous and snobby'

'Right Place Right Time' heartthrob Olly Murs has criticised the BRIT Awards institution for being unfair when deciding on who should be nominated for the prizes it gives out annually.

Murs has never won a BRIT despite having an incredibly successful career and told Scotland's The Daily Record that there's a certain snobbery surrounding the ceremony as winners and nominees are decided by an industry panel rather than fans and consumers of music:

"I think it is more of an industry thing than a fan's point of view. From the fan's point of view, I should have won one, but from an industry point of view, I'm probably not the coolest guy to win a Brit."

"It is ridiculous. They should listen to people on the streets, buying the records, rather than some snobby guy in a room who goes, 'I don't think he should win it because he is not cool'."

Meanwhile, the singer's new single 'Right Place Right Time' debuted at No.39 this afternoon (September 4) on the midweek chart update although the final position will be confirmed this coming Sunday, September 8.
