Tell us about yourself and your music?

Sonya: We are The Millen Sisters! We are identical twins from New Jersey but now stay in L.A. We also write our own material, act and model.

Sabrina: We've been performing since we were kids and always had a love for all styles of music especially soul music of the 60's and 70's our music represents a mixture of soul, funk, gospel, pop and anything with a fun groove.

How would you describe your sound?

Sabrina: I would describe our sound as 70's soul. Sonya: Our sound is very much like The Emotions, The Three Degrees and The Pointer Sisters-girl groups of the past. We love to incorporate love and social themes in our music. Music is healing and can turn someone's bad day into a good day. we always reflect on how music makes us feel and want to involve that into our work.

Talk about the experience making your single?

Sonya: We got together with our longtime friend-Grammy Award winner, Ted Perlman who worked with Harry Belafonte, Whitney Houston and Diana Ross to write and produce the record "The Reason". Sabrina: It was a fun process getting together on this record which is out now on our soundcloud at soundcloud.com/themillensisters. Ted is very easy and fun to work with!

What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?

Sonya: We are currently working on our EP slated to be released early 2017 & a music video to go along with a single, so stay tuned! Sabrina: Once the EP is completed and released we plan on doing a number of shows to support the project!


What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?

Sonya: So far I would say getting our single "The Reason" out on soundcloud as well as other music outlets. The music industry is tough and you can hit brick walls often and have to heal yourself up and turn around and keep moving. So many will try and steer you away from being musically yourself & it can stall things so we're happy to get something out that's us. Sabrina: We also did a Got Milk? campaign geared towards teenagers and the benefits of drinking milk. We played and song in the commercials which was right up our alley!

Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s)?

Sonya: We would love to work with The Roots. Being from South Jersey outside of Philly we know and grew up on the Philadelphia music scene and The Roots music is very soulful. Sabrina: Adrian Young is another artist we would love to work with. He's known to produce and write music in the style of the 60's and 70's era and has worked with a number of top acts.



Name something random that people do not know about you?

Sabrina: we are sports fanatics. We are die hard Eagles fans! I'm a big Duke Men's Basketball

fan as well. Coach K is the best! Sonya: I'm not a duke fan but we both love Allen Iverson! He's our favorite athlete and we are so happy that his legacy is finally sealed with him being inducted into the National Basketball Hall Of Fame! I'm also a big fan of the walking dead and would love to be in an episode or two.


What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?

Sonya: We've learned with being in this business and being independent is that we get to be our own boss! You have flexibility but also a lot of the pressure will be placed on you. You depend on yourself & at times it can become a lot.

Sabrina: It can be stressful figuring things out on your own especially when it comes to the business aspects of the music industry but learning is healthy.

What can we expect from you in the future?

Sonya: you can expect more music and a possible tour! We're working on getting our own music company. Well love to have a tv show, merchandise, and our own product line. Sabrina: more music, well love a fashion line, movies, shows, and a line of vegan desserts. so many things to name.

Sonya: we're here to make people happy and enjoy life. We want to bring love, and soul back to music. Be a voice to those that didn't get a chance and to run for those who've walked. Give honor through song to the past and be the sound of the future.
