Wil Harbor Interview @WiLHarbor

Tell us about yourself and your music? Music is my life. I was born and bred in NJ.. I been recording and writing songs since 2007. I write anything from hip hop, trap, pop, jazz or country. I moved to Elizabeth, NJ in 2007 and in a few years met up with some guys who were into music just as much as I was. We linked up and formed a group called (GreenlightGang). Time past and people changed and the gang ended up splitting up and I was literally the only artist left. After that I realized I must never limit myself or my creativity, and that I should never doubt myself or who I could be. I knew I had go find my sound and find me as an artist. I believe all artists should remain true to them and to their art. My music represents the places I've been, where I'm headed, and everything in between.

How would you describe your sound? My sound is me. Whatever I feel ..whatever energy is surrounding me during my creative process, whether positive or negative I express it. I take the sounds from life and make music with them. I take the day to day emotions and make my music.

Talk about the experience making your single? My single "Psicdoelica" was just that a crazy, trippy and a fun record to do. I remember being in the studio, hearing the beat, and was instantly hooked. me and my boys in the session were passing round that loud. got to talking bout life..girls..police etc. and then just like that it came to us.

What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows? I'm always working on something. like Right now I am finishing up pt2. of my L.O.V.E. tape series. The first part was "Life offerS varioUs emotions" pt.2 will be called "Burning Bridges". My next project will be full of melodic tones and beats, mix with story telling hip hop, jazzy-trap hooks wit a RnB twist. I'm definitely going to be digger deeper to put together this next project.

as far as shows go my team and i (Greenlightmusicgrp) are working on putting together shows in the NJ/NY area but in a better, more creative way.

What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far? The biggest highlight for me definitely a has to be when I mix/mastered my first ever solo mixtape "The WiL Harbor Tape". I still look back at that tape I see how much I've grown as an artist. how much life has changed since that project.

Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s)? If I had to choose one artists to do a collaboration with it would have to be Fabolous. Hands down.

Name something random that people do not know about you? I used to play the clarinet in middle school.

What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry? One thing I def learned is that you must invest in yourself and be yourself. Don't conform to the wave be the wave. So many times I got away from being me and expressing my art and got lost in the sauce of the industry. I would say building a strong team around you is also a major key. the building is only as strong as the brick next to it. Teamwork make the dream work.

What can we expect from you in the future? You can expect big things from me for the future. I plan on taking this music industry by storm. I never stop working I'm always creating, always writing new songs, I'm always looking to improve and reinvent myself song by song year by year, that way I know I'm giving the audience the best of me. I want to put myself in a position where I deliver the best sound and product for the consumers.  People should always check out my website www.wilharbor.com for the latest things going on with WiL Harbor and Greenlightmusicgrp.
