Paramore praise Carly Rae Jepsen: "We're not ashamed to like pop music if it's good"

Paramore have spoken out in praise of Carly Rae Jepsen.

The punk-rock band are known for their melodic hooks and it seems they aren't afraid to listen to pop music.

Speaking to Digital Spy, the group - who are released their new self-titled album today (April 8) - admitted that they like Carly Rae Jepsen's single 'This Kiss'.

When asked if they hope 'Paramore' will hit No.1 in the UK, singer Hayley Williams said:

"Oh my gosh, don't! Knowing what's in the charts for us isn't a dire situation - we don't need to know what's number one to stay relevant. That said, I think consuming new music is important, just to keep the wheels turning. We're not ashamed to like pop music if it's good. There's this Carly Rae Jepsen song that we're obsessed with..."

When asked if the song was 'This Kiss', Williams replied: "It totally sounds like a Belinda Carlisle song. There's this Sky Ferreira song 'Lost In My Bedroom' which is also amazing. It's all subjective though, we just like what we like."
