PJ Harvey bags first UK No.1 album as Prince impacts top ten

PJ Harvey has landed her first No.1 album in the UK.

The Official Charts Company confirmed today (April 22) that her new record 'The Hope Six Demolition Project' has topped the chart.

The musician's best chart performance in the UK previously was 1993's 'Rid of Me', which reached No.3.

At No.2 on the midweek update is Adele's '25', while Aled Jones' 'One Voice' is up one to No.3.

At No.4 is Santana's new album 'Santana IV', with Justin Bieber's 'Purpose' rounding off the top five.

Following Prince's untimely death on Thursday (April 21), his 2007 greatest hits package 'Ultimate' has reached No.10.

'The Very Best of Prince', released in 2001, is up to No.18.

It is expected that Prince will dominated the upcoming midweek UK albums chart update on Monday (April 25).

The 57-year-old musician was found dead in his Paisley Park complex in Minnesota.
