T.I. sent back to jail

Rapper T.I has been sentenced to 11 months in prison after a judge ruled he had “had about the limit of second chances.”

The ruling came six weeks after the musician, real name Clifford Harris, and his wife were pulled over by police in West Hollywood during a routine traffic stop during which deputies said they smelled marijuana.

This will not be his first stint in jail; the controversial star was released in March after serving one-year on gun charges.

T.I. pleaded his case proclaiming: “I screwed up big-time, and I’m sorry. I’m truly and sincerely sorry. I don’t want and I don’t need to use drugs anymore. I want them out of my life.”

Sadly for him the judge wasn't having any of it.

Boy George wasn't the only one to gossip about a long-rumoured '80s fling between Gavin Rossdale and pop star Marilyn.

However, he has never addressed the rumours, until now. In the November issue of US magazine Details, he finally confirms there is some truth to the rumour.

“It’s not something I’ve talked about really because it’s always been in the glare of a tabloid world,” Rossdale said. “It’s just one of those things: Move on. When you’re 17, Jesus Christ. I don’t think there’s anything strange about any form of — you’re learning about life. It’s a part of growing up. That’s it. No more, no less.”

Rapper T.I. could do with some positive press. He’s due in court in LA on Friday on drug possession charges and spent Wednesday being quite the Good Samaritan. On hearing that a man was threatening to jump to his death from the roof of a 22-floor building in Atlanta, T.I. rushed to see if he could help.

"He came to the scene and offered to talk to him, we told the young man that, and he came down," Officer James Polite told Atlanta newspaper, The Atlanta Journal Constitution. T.I. spoke with the man briefly before the potential jumper was taken to hospital.

"He didn't have to stop, “ added Polite, clearly impressed. “He could've kept on going about his business. We're happy it ended the way it did, and we thank him."

Drake reveals Alicia Keys' 'Unthinkable (I'm Ready)' is about NIcki Minaj

Alicia Keys' hit 'Unthinkable (I'm Ready)' talks about love, and not necessarily a readily acceptable one. Long rumoured to be about Keys' own life, the song is in part about Drake's.

Drake recently told BET.com, "It is (about Minaj). I'm not gonna lie. The concept came from a conversation that we had, or conversations we have. I wrote it based off two things: Number one, based off that, and then two, based off Alicia and [her husband] Swizz and their situation, and it just seemed fitting. It was like the perfect concept."

Drake may have felt compelled to come clean since Minaj let the cat out of the bag saying, "You know what else he told me he wrote for me? The Alicia Keys song 'I'm Ready'. I happen to love the song. I never told anyone that; I hope he won't get mad that I said that."

Drake may not mind. He certainly didn't mind telling MTV2's Sucker Free Countdown he had feelings for Minaj. "I've always really, actually, had a crush on her, always really loved her, and she's always just looked at me as, like, her little brother."

Watch Alicia perform 'Unthinkable (I'm Ready)' on 'Good Morning America' last June:

Lil Wayne's new album released, he is not

Lil Wayne didn’t want a small problem like being in jail to interfere with plans for his new album. ‘I Am Not A Human Being’ was released digitally last month and comes out physically next Tuesday (October 19).

The album was completed shortly before Wayne began a year’s sentence at famed New York City prison, Rikers Island, for a 2007 weapons charge.

Before he began his term in March, he set up a Twitter account and launched a website to keep fans informed. Who’s doing the actual informing? That would be Lil Twist, the teenage Texan rapper who opened for him at a concert and was subsquently taken under Lil Wayne’s wing. Time to return the favour it seems.

Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant, says it was important to Wayne that fans had something new to keep them going while his client was otherwise unavailable. “For about a month and a half he was in the studio just recording, knowing that he didn’t want to disappear. He wanted his fans to have something while he was in there. He said to me, 'I want people to still feel like I’m here'."

Originally the material (which features collaborations with Drake and Nicki Minaj) was to have been released as an EP but there was simply too much of it. The strategy seems to have paid off. The album was downloaded 110,000 times in its first week of release and ‘Right Above It’, the first single featuring Drake, debuted on top of the Billboard Hot Digital Songs Chart.

With time off for good behaviour, Lil Wayne is due to be released from jail on November 4.

Caleb Followill's “Kurt Cobain moment”

Kings of Leon front man Caleb Followill has apologised for his outburst at Reading earlier this summer, calling it his “Kurt Cobain moment.”

The Tennessee rockers were booed during their headline set at the festival, where they described the crowd as “frozen”.

“We were on the road and I’d just found out my house had been broken into,” he said. “We took it out on a lot of people. Me in particular, I took it out on audiences where we had a big backlash and I took it out on the crowd."

“It was my Kurt Cobain moment when I was hating the success and I was scared and thought people are gonna think that we did this on purpose.”

The apology comes the week before the new Kings of Leon album ‘Come Around Sundown’ is released on October 18.

East London born Professor Green has revealed the latest in the series of ‘The next 48 hours’ webisodes in association with the JumpOff TV.

Following the rapper around the country on his busy promotional schedule, Green does the rounds at various BBC radio and TV programmes (not removing his shades due to a hangover), perform at an under 18s gig in Cardiff, visit a competition-winning school and chat to the camera during his extensive travelling in between.

Speaking about his extensive promotional schedule Green said it’s ‘really important because people get to know your face and see more of your character. It’s a way of familiarising yourself with people that are going to buy your music’.

He spoke about his current single ‘Monster’ being ‘quite a cheeky song’ about people being so politically correct and not saying what they feel.

The cheeky chap also revealed that he is already scheduled to be working on the follow up album to ‘Alive 'Till I’m Dead’ in the coming weeks and that his debut LP has in been an astonishing eight years in the making.

Loyal followers of rapper Lupe Fiasco have been on the campaign trail to get his new album release date confirmed and they finally have the news they’ve been waiting for.

Fiasco’s new album ‘Lasers’ (Love Always Shines, Everyone Remember 2 Smile) is due for release on March 8, 2011 after being delayed since December 2009.

Pharrell, Chad and Shae, collectively known as N.E.R.D. have been snapped on the video set of their new US single 'Hypnotize U' from forthcoming album 'Nothing'.

The trio have been recording the footage to accompany the Daft Punk-produced tune in Miami alongside some stunning scantily-clad ladies in a private jet, in an outside pool and running through a park.

Chad has rather oddly been sporting a balaclava over his head during all recent promotion in relation to the song including their recent performance of the track on US TV programme, 'Late Show with David Letterman'.

Pharrell has said they aimed for the sound on 'Nothing' to be nostalgic and timeless, a funk hip-hop record with a punk edge.

The highly anticipated fourth studio album from N.E.R.D. is set to hit UK shores in January 2011.

Gayngs tour bus mishap

American indie outfit, Gayngs, were forced to cancel their set at the Austin City Limits Festival on Saturday night (October 9) because their tour bus had been stolen. Or so they thought.

The band, who had been unable to reach the driver, reported the bus as stolen at 4:20am on Sunday morning (October 10) and had to cancel the gig due their entire set being aboard the bus.

However, in a further twist to the tale, it appears that the bus, and driver, are both safe and well in Nashville, over 800 miles away. It turns out that the driver was ordered to return there by the bus company because the band was late in paying their $6,000 bill. A claim which Gayngs vehemently deny.

A statement released by singer, and Bon Iver front man, Justin Vernon said, “We were given no warning of our gear being taken and it was absolutely our every intention to pay our bill. Matter of fact, me and Lewis just paid it. In person. In Nashville. Flew there this morning. None of that changes the fact that our gear WAS stolen. And taken hostage. And caused us not to be able play.“

The Austin City Limits Festival was the final date on their tour.

Watch the video to Gayngs' 'Cry' below:

Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails has always been vocal about his opinions so his anti-Facebook comment has come as no surprise.

On the brink of the release of greatly hyped movie, ‘The Social Network’, sound-tracked by the NIN front-man and Atticus Ross, Reznor spoke to online music site ‘Drowned in Sound’ and re-confirmed his disdain for the product that puts an importance on popular ‘social archetypes’.

Though careful not to criticize the idea of Facebook as a “tool”, he speaks less highly of founder Mark Zuckerburg, who he says was “in the right place, at the right time”.

Listen to Reznor and Atticus Ross perform 'In Motion' from The Social Network soundtrack below:
