Idle Frets Release 'Aftershow' Single

Cheshire newcomers making waves

Formed in Chester in 2011, IDLE FRETS have spent the majority of the last four years relentlessly gigging, snapping up opportunities and spreading like wildfire. Come 2015 and a new line-up, their intuitive new direction and sound has seen then poking their head above the parapet of the local scene in the North West and scoring some serious support slots.

Protégés of Sir Paul McCartney’s illustrious Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, the quartet are well on their way to being the latest in a long line of success stories from the city including Dan Croll, Circa Waves, Outfit, Stealing Sheep and Jethro Fox, all bursting from a thriving spotlight that’s been placed on the city’s output.

"We like to write honest songs about things the average listener can get – something people can understand and connect with” says front man Ben Davies “In terms of our sound it’s a question we really don’t like to answer and we never know what to say - we’ve always seemed to slip into saying we’re an indie rock band, but it’s more textural than that, especially with the new outfit, a really different and fresh sound.”

Custom made for radio, the new track has a heart that grooves and a vocal (courtesy of Davies) that drips with emotive cool. Layered synths and Nile Rogers-referencing guitars partner up with a driving rhythm section to deliver a killer slice of anthemic indie pop that could well find itself at home across a number of festival stages this summer.

With numerous shows alongside major hot property The 1975 and Catfish & The Bottlemen the band also appeared at Chester Rocks Festival in 2014 with Dizzee Rascal, Razorlight and The Hoosiers.
