REAL LIFE PR LAUNCHES

Laura Martin, former founder and Director of Anorak London on Monday launches brand new company Real Life PR. The new company will span artist, event and brand PR and will kick off representing: Foals, Metronomy, Rainy Milo, Red Bull Studios, Pitchfork festival (Paris), Optimus Alive (Lisbon), Oya festival (Oslo), Bugged Out Weekender. Martin will also provide a PR consultancy service.

From 2003-2013 former journalist Martin built the Anorak brand, which began in a small office in W1 and grew into the UK’s leading music and events company with a team of 20 turning over 600k+ per annum. Under her reign Anorak won numerous awards – a hat trick for Best Online PR Company at the Record of the Day awards 2008, 2009, 2011 and this year, ‘Most Effective Campaign for a Live Event’.

In 2009 Martin spearheaded the company’s move into event and festival PR and oversaw stand out campaigns for an array of large scale events. In addition she oversaw brand campaigns for Channel 4, Black Eyewear and Leon restaurants to name but a few.

About the new venture she says: “I’m extremely excited about Real Life and the new challenges it brings. I take a dynamic approach to business and have an advanced understanding of what press want to write about. I have a strong vision for my new venture - excellent feature ideas and clear ethics will sit at the heart of Real Life. It’s no secret that the music landscape is changing and it is important to remain flexible – I am making myself more adaptable”

In March 2013 Emily Cooper and Laura Martin decided to close Anorak in order to pursue new personal challenges. They remain firm friends and will work together on various campaigns. Martin is co-Director of The Music Circle, set up by herself and Emily Cooper in 2011 in conjunction with Oxfam, to raise money for abused women in the DRC (Congo). They have so far raised 30k.
