REM to play Royal Albert Hall

The phenomenal alternative rock band REM are to perform at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall for the first time on 24th March 2008. They will be joined by special guests - Duke Spirit, Foals and Robyn Hitchcock.

The concert is to celebrate 60 years of the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts), a non-profit arts institute and registered charity, which all profits from the night will go to.

The band will also be promoting their long-awaited 14th studio album 'Accelerate', which is to be released on 1st April via Warner Bros. The album follows the success of 2004's 'Around The Sun'. The band worked on the album in Vancouver and Dublin with Bloc Party and Snow Patrol producer Jacknife Lee.

R.E.M. tour North America from 23rd May to 21st June before embarking on a European tour starting 2nd July in Amsterdam and ending 9th September in Finland.

Additional U.K. dates will be announced shortly. Tickets for the concert will go on sale this Friday 15th February at 9.00 am and are priced at £55/£45/£25 (subject to booking fees).
