Robbie Williams says his ego is driving his desire to go solo again

Robbie Williams has already expressed a desire to reignite his solo career when his Progress tour with Take That comes to an end, but he has now cited his own ego as the main reason for wanting his own spotlight.

The 'Angels' superstar told The Sun newspaper that it's great to be sharing a stage with his band mates, but he can't shake the desire to be up there on his own again:

"The gigs have been absolutely amazing - the best period of my career so far with those boys. Sharing it with somebody is much better than doing it by yourself, but then ego, want, need and a whole heap of other things kick in."

He also added that he has "too much fun" in Take That and he does genuinely enjoy being on the road with the other lads:

"And you start preparing for your own tour... and the other boys are going away for a bit and I don't really know what's on the cards with them."

"But we have to ride again, we have to - it's too much fun."

Watch him perform 'Angels' during Take That's current tour below:
