Robbie Williams signs mega-deal with rivals Sony for new album

Robbie Williams has jumped ship from Universal to rivals Sony for his next record.

The singer is expected to release his eleventh album by the end of the year.

The Take That man said he is "immensely proud" of his new material.

Williams told The Sun: "The team at Sony are professional, incredibly hungry and have a great energy. They’re inspired, I’m inspired.

“I’m more ready than I ever have been and I’m totally convinced I’m in the right place.

“I look forward to working on this album, which is an album I’m immensely proud of."

Sony UK boss Jason Iley added: "This is a once-in-a-lifetime signing with the biggest male solo artist of our generation."

Williams' record will be issued Sony's Columbia label.

The singer's last album 'Swings Both Ways' was released in 2013.
