Robbie Williams announces he's to become father for first time

Robbie Williams has announced he’s to become a father for the first time.

The 38-year-old took to his own official website earlier today to post the news that he and his Turkish-American wife, Ayda Field, are expecting a child later this year.

In an understandably excited letter to his fans, the ‘Rock DJ’ star said: “Hey Friendlies. I’ve been keeping a secret from you all…

“Me and Ayda are going to be Mummy and Daddy this year…!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“We had sex! It works! We’ve seen scans and cried…looked at babies in commercials and teared up…the nursery is already planned…”

Williams, who married actress Ayda at his home in Los Angeles in 2010, then went onto gush: “Basically I’m in love with a little person growing in Mummy’s belly…and can’t wait to be a daddy…

“Crying now. Much love, much joy. Roberto, Mum and Little Bump. Xxxxxx”

The Stoke-On-Trent singer, who had previously expressed his desire to have a baby before his next tour, now joins Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald on the list of Take That members to become a father.
